These proceedings represent the work of contributors to the 20th European Conference on Management Leadership and Governance (ECMLG 2024), hosted by ACI and the Universidade Lusófona, Lisbon, Portugal on 14-15 November 2024. The Conference Chair was Professor Mafalda Patuleia, and the joint Programme Chairs were Professor Eduardo Tomé and Professor José Carlos Dias Rouco, all from Universidade Lusófona.


ECMLG is a well-established event on the academic research calendar and now in its 20th year the key aim remains the opportunity for participants to share ideas and meet the people who hold them. The aims and scope of the conference is to be a forum for practical, technical and theoretical exchange about the study, management, development and implementation of issues pertaining to management, leadership and governance from a multidisciplinary context.


The opening keynote presentation was given by Professor Thomas Garavan from the National College of Ireland, Dublin, who spoke about Leadership and Organisational Wrongdoing: The Role of Leader and Executive Team Characteristics. The second day of the conference opened with an address from Professor José Neves from Universidade Nova de Lisboa who discussed The AED Cluster Approach Towards the Growth of the Portuguese Aeronautics, Space and Defence Ecosystem.


With an initial submission of 164 abstracts, after the double blind, peer review process there are 75 Academic research papers, 9 PhD research papers, 1 Masters Research papers and 7 work-in-progress papers published in these Conference Proceedings. These papers represent research from Austria, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Perú, Poland, Portugal, Romania, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Tunisia, UK, and USA.
